Master Chess

Master Chess strips the game down to what actually matters: a board, thirty-two pieces, and one king you need to trap. Tap a piece, tap the square you want it on, and the game handles the rest. No frills, no filler.

You can settle in against the AI when you just want to think through a position at your own pace, or jump online and test your openings against real players from around the world. Either way, the same rules apply: sharpen your tactics, protect your king, and force theirs into a corner.

It runs free in the browser on desktop, Android, and iOS, so you can start a game on a laptop and finish it on your phone without installing anything. If you like games that reward planning over reflexes, this sits nicely alongside other Mind Games and works just as well as a solo 1 Player Games session or a head-to-head match through Multiplayer games.

Checkmate the opponent's king before yours falls - that's the entire objective, same as classic chess.

On desktop, click the piece you want to move, then click the square where you want it to land. On mobile, the controls are identical but with taps instead of clicks: tap the piece, then tap the destination square.

Play against the AI if you want to practice a specific opening or tactic without pressure, then take what you've learned into an online match against a real player. Thinking a few moves ahead before you commit to a move usually pays off more than reacting piece by piece.
