Run out of fuel and the round just ends, no drama, no explosion. You take your earnings to the upgrade screen, pump them into your ship's abilities, and head straight back out to finish what you started. Every asteroid destroyed pays for the upgrade that makes the next attempt easier.

Clear every asteroid in the field and the stage is done, unlocking the next challenge with presumably meaner rocks waiting. It's simple, it's satisfying, and there's no blood or gore in sight - just you, your cursor, and a galaxy that needs tidying.
