Numerically works, but you don't have to. Vex 3 is the friendliest starting point and Vex 9 is the most refined. Each entry stands alone, so there's no story you'll miss by jumping in anywhere.

VEX Challenges, by design. It takes the difficult sections out of the main games and presents them without the gentler stages around them, so it's the one to save until the movement feels natural.

A precision platformer. You run, jump, slide and wall-climb through courses built out of spikes, saws and traps, where the challenge is executing a route cleanly rather than working out what the route is.

It leans into speed rather than precision. The core movement is recognisably Vex, but the emphasis shifts toward keeping momentum through a course instead of carefully picking your way past each hazard.
